I’m sorry but – if you want to truly represent different nationalities and their accents – please hire actors from those countries.
Having what sounds like an Irish actress imitate an Indian accent – very badly – hurt my ears. I couldn’t finish this book. I would literally wince when walking down the street.
Why not either invest in actors whose natural accent is the one you want to emulate or – don’t try at all. Something in between is just painful. What a shame. For what promised to be a fantastic book I thought this was incredibly short sighted and tone deaf.
