I’ve finally found a book I didn’t like, and it was a doozy. Without spoiling the story for those who want to read it, it’s basically a spin on the movie True Grit.
The characters are bland, the setting is good, but no backstory is given to anyone other than generic stereotypes, and the narrator does nothing to help these issues at all. I’m never heard such a monotone performance on Audible, and was quite shocked to listen to Kevin Pierce. He gives each character the same tone, regardless of male or female, and things like “he barked” or “she shouted” are read without passion or change of tone…
I struggled to finish this book, and I regret to say that.
