I really wanted to like this one after I enjoyed the first book so much. However, it just became too tedious. First off, everyone BLINKS. You can’t go five minutes without a character blinking, at one point a blind character even TRIES to blink. then there are the stats. oh Lord the stats, we get the stat sheet for every random character that shows up in the book. and it is awful. The points of view continue to jump between the past the present and any other random character that shows up which started to get on my nerves. Finally, The introduction of this weird non-binary character becomes the very definition of tokenism. they seem to have no purpose whatsoever for the story other than to say “look I’m progressive!”. it just left an absolute bad taste.
