(Slight spoilers ahead)

Ok. This was a delight of a read. I was not expecting such an emotional punch from this one. The character of Ethan was so relatable and you could feel his frustration on page with how he interacted with the world and how he came to grips with his reality. I found myself tearing up over and over feeling his frustration and getting angry on his behalf. I haven’t read much from this author before, but I am definitely going to be doing a deep dive into her catalog after this read.

It was not as spicy as my usual go to books (it’s open door just not very many scenes), but the plot kept me absolutely glued to the pages and I devoured it in a day.

I will say that I am a petty, petty bitch and I would have liked the antagonists in the plot to have suffered far more. Maybe gotten eaten by a bear or been audited by the IRS. Or both.

My only major critique is that I think this book needs a CW. There is a detailed description of a hate crime remembered by one MC and if it hadn’t read through the spoilers listed by BookSafety, I would have been caught completely off guard. It’s a very difficult scene to get though.

Props to the amazing Joel Leslie for the narration. He was a delight (as always).
