I know the guy who wrote this book. I always thought he was a bit of an a-hole but also funny. Imagine my surprise as I laughed out loud, literally, several times during this book.
I distinctly remember a time when I was talking to Michael about how hard it is for me to find pants that fit. I have a small waist and muscular thighs, so pants that fit properly used to be an issue. When I complained about my, “Issue,” Mike said to me, “Fuck you and your tiny waist and huge muscular thighs. I hate guys like you. That’s not a problem, you asshole. You’re probably a pornstar too and have a huge cock.” What he said was funny, but also I attempted to counter his argument with a comment about how I didn’t have a huge cock. I would say that he and the Shadowmaster might have some things in common.
I read a lot of fantasy. This is an excellent book. I thoroughly enjoyed the level of geekiness, and sarcasm directed it all of the fantasy tropes and geek culture. I am also surprised that Mike might possibly be as much, if not more, of a geek then I am.
