I took a chance with Super Sales on Super Heroes because it was on sale. I saw it on a 2 for 1 special and thought. Meh, why the heck not. I don’t want any of this other stuff, sure I’ll try it.
I had some hours to spare, so I popped this in and I am very glad I did. I honestly don’t even remember what the other book I ordered was.
Super Sales on Super Heroes is a LitRPG that follows Protagonist (i use that word loosely) Felix Campbell who starts off as a lowly fast food manager in a city ruled by super villains, as he scrapes and scratches to turn his fortunes around by using his powers, his smarts and buying slaves.
What I most like about the character isn’t the fact that he is an overpowered badass (he kind of is, but not like you think) but because he makes up for his shortcomings by surrounding himself with intelligent people who lift him up and help him (and in turn themselves) succeed. They all just happen to be pretty girls who end up liking him too.
The writing is excellent, and not even in a “this-is-a-sexy-book-so-take-it-with-a-grain-of-salt” kind of way, it’s just all around good quality. You come to feel for the characters quite quickly and most of them (the ones you get the most time with) are very fleshed out and bring you closer to them emotionally for it.
This book is unapologetically a Harem novel, but though it’s implied there is sexy time, it isn’t at the forefront of the story… it doesn’t even happen very often, and when it does it just sort of fades to black.
Jeff Hays is an excellent voice actor who has a great vocal range for both male and female voices that surprised me. He gives as good as he gets, as he does an excellent job of portraying and keeping up with the characters, the style of writing, and the emotions written by the author.
Great work, William D. Arand for your stellar book. you really did a good job helping me to feel for these people and root for them even if they aren’t heroes.
