The protagonist was so deeply unlikeable that it made the book hard to read through to the end – there really is a limit to following a narrative at whose heart is a horrible, self-absorbed person who seems, and was in my view, beyond redemption. I only finished it to know what happened (of course). Story itself wasn’t bad.
