This was a perfect continuation of where we left off. The emotional and story ties were hitting at perfect times to fully ensure the storyline. The themes and ideas that are shown were presented or hinted at in previous books that have the book a sense of identity but brotherhood among the others in the series. I enjoyed the various perspectives and how they humanized several characters that were a little flat in the previous book (to me). Being able to see each character progress and with a few offhand POVs it really illustrated the impact of where the book was taking you. Spoilers!!!! The ending! Omg I loved the ending. The fact that they tied in the Unsouled symbol to the badges was so breathtakingly beautiful. It really felt like the perfect tie in to how sage icons fit into the narrative. I still have no idea how or why sage is distinctly different but I appreciate that it was expanded on. The fact that characters died in a huge battle is also very much in my style. Anytime that there’s a huge battle of blood and everyone survives it grates on me. So I like that the author wasn’t a coward and actually went through with it. And the touching scene with Sessthbydtduhig and the dragon king, that was such a great humanizing moment that made me actually care about them. And I feel really bad for the dragons in their own way. It made them relatable. Man I’m gonna have to re read this again.
