Fast-paced fantasy. I get bored with epic fantasy due to the hours of set up, but his book/series does an excellent job with pacing. It is constantly fleshing out an interesting and unique world without dragging the story to a screeching halt. I also enjoy how each of the characters feels distinct and unique, not just mild variations of played-out stereotypes. The narrator is pretty good, but as the series progresses and more characters are introduced the narrator doesn’t have enough voices for them all so they start to overlap. This is the only complaint I have for this book and the series as a whole and I just finished book 5. I highly recommend this book (and the series) to anyone who enjoys fantasy.
