Come on- why would a narrator be chosen who can’t do the characters accents except for an Irish lilt , or voices for that matter. Also all the male characters sound pretty much the same, except Mick & Barb – who have slight Irish lilts. But I would imagine if a character was straight from Ireland, the narrator wouldn’t be able to do it.
The author often somewhat describes the characters’ accent -(European , middle eastern, etc) but the narrator still speaks with the same American.voice.
Also the narrator doesn’t annunciate very well- He isn’t bad enough to skip the books , but the narration is often irritating. (Don’t quit your day job!)
I’m afraid an AI would do a better job.
