This book was difficult to listen to, not because of the narrators but because of the story itself. There were quite a few times when I would pause the book for days because I got so mad at the stupidity of these characters. The story started off interesting, but I don’t think I can bring myself to listen to a second one.

This book is about a young woman who purchased property sight unseen in the Alaska wilderness. Considering she supposedly grew up in Anchorage, Alaska, she should know better, especially since she hopes it will be a successful bed and breakfast.

Then there is Jack, a wereverine who lets her know immediately what he thinks about her plans for the place. This books saving grace are the funny moments and things that he says, like “yeti burrito” and some of their interactions.

The thing that was super frustrating about this story was that Jack is supposed to be super old and super smart, which has kept him alive for so long. Why was he super stupid throughout the story if that is the case? Then Blaze, knowing that she is surrounded by supernatural beings, does not trust what Jack said to try to keep her safe the number of times (ok throughout the whole damn book) she got herself in trouble.

This story could have been finished a lot sooner than it did. It seemed that the problems and altercations they found themselves in dragged on unnecessarily. They kept piling on problem after problem instead of fixing/ending issues immediately. I also feel like Blaze spent so much time fighting and arguing about being an independent woman that she got mad pretty often. It did not help that Jack acted like a neanderthal and that they never really communicated, which was crazy considering his age and the length of time he spent in his past relationships; one would think he would know how to communicate with a female better.
