CW Farnsworth remains my secret guilty pleasure. She is sneaky chocolate and French champagne. Because she has so few Audiobooks I have to stretch them out into small doses and almost treat myself.

I read her as my palate cleanser, my top author. This story was a little different, a little angsty, a but gritty. It shows her breadth as a writer. It didn’t leave me feeling wrung out or raw as some others do

I liked this story but found it was a little sad and a little tortured. The cause of the rift between them and how that serves as a dividing line in the story is an interesting challenge. The story is more raw than her others.

The male reader is pretty stilted and lacks inflection. The female reader is pretty darn good and is excellent.

No spoilers below but there is some explanation to assist the reader. The story was really good and had some nice edges. There is a good deal of spice / sex / steam.

The story revisits an old trope (friends-with-benefits to love) but brings a different angle. He falls hard and is rusted on to his love for her and she is the kryptonite.

The sub-plots include “tells” that speak to the overall story including family cross-over that introduces complexity to the narrative.

Overall I finished the book feeling a little drawn from the tension but in a good way rather than feeling wrung out

Another AMAZING read
