This story was not really what I had expected when starting. I was expecting a more involved plot with mysteries and twists unwinding, gradually but surprisingly. I was also hoping for some justice for the victims of racially motivated killings, but that was very very lightly touched upon.
The story is very slow, and stagnated in the middle. It was also jarring at some points especially when dealing with race. The main characters’s responses and reactions didn’t feel right at times.
The story is also quite repetitive and feels confined, in terms of returning to the same place over and over where nothing much happens, but also the character development other than the protagonists- of those in the town-is quite flat. the ending is also predictable, but unsatisfying, I felt as if the victims had been forgotten.
