I will start by saying, I did not finish the book. I only made it to chapter 8b. I like finishing books and movies, even if I don’t like them, so I can feel comfortable giving them a fair and honest opinion. That being said, I could not finish this book.

*****Spoiler and Trigger Warnings****

I enjoy dominate characters, I enjoy teaching, BDSM and “no good for you” characters. I look for books with these qualities. Now that I feel I have disclosed myself, something about this Corbin made my skin crawl. Possibly because of his grooming and fetishizing of an 18 year old, who looks 15.

When they first meet, Corbin says he didn’t want to look at her because she looked underage, no more that 15. He then completely changes his attitude when he finds out she was 18. Meaning he found a child attractive but since she technically legal, he’s in. He’s cringing innuendos are uncomfortably inappropriate as his internal dialogue speaks on her youth and innocence. He love bombs her and confesses his feeling for her the night after meeting. Tells her on their first date that he could rape her if he wanted to but he was restraining himself until she is ready because she belongs to him. Which was also uncomfortable given the prologue was a rape scene. This leads me to speculate that this was the cause of their divorce. He yells at her when she tells him about her body issues, scares her into submission and he says her soft yes sir made him hard. Shortly after meeting he goes into the field and she doesn’t know what to do with herself with out him. Her mom encourages this as love and her daughter’s need to experience life against her will because Vivian is unwilling to venture out on her own. It made me feel gross and I would not recommend.
