This book should have been great. but it ended up just above average. there is a lot of telling me how badass Evangaline is but very little showing, and when action happens she is completely overpowered by our moderately unlikable love interest, it’s hard to keep in mind that she is supposed to be the most skilled killer in the world and a powerful angel of death.
The world seemed interesting, and honestly if this was a more direct fantasy novel with a romance subplot it would have shown well. The fallen angels and the archangels playing at politics and threatening wars, it felt like it should have been epic urban fantasy, instead of somewhat kinky romance with an urban fantasy backdrop.
It was good enough to be enjoyable but not something I would go tell my friends to check out.
