The longer this book went, it seemed like the writing got worse. I think the narrater contributed to some of the eye-rolling moments. He reads with sort of a sarcastic tone. Many of the conversations were not believable, in my opinion. I kept thinking how no one I know would say this or describe things this way. If you can suspend your disbelief that all of society falls into calamity and chaos-including organized gang formation and territory wars-within 2 days of a virus outbreak that has a 3-day incubation period, then some of the story is somewhat entertaining. I was not entertained enough to get the next stories in the series, though.
