I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review. I really loved Villains Rule and this was a worthy successor to that book. Once again, Jackson Blackwell finds himself in a bad spot and has to use tropes and cliches to get himself out of it, only this time he has to deal with superheroes and supervillains and he’s not without his powers, which makes him a lot more formidable. There are a few times when it seems like the author is repeating himself, they’re few and far between and the rest of the book more than makes up for any flaws.

Mr. Kafer once again does a fantastic job with the voices, even the female ones. His tone and voice work so well with these stories that I can’t imagine anyone else doing as good. Both the author and the narrator make the characters believable and I don’t think I’ve laughed so hard since the last book. These are such fun listens, I almost wish they could be made into movies and I really hope the author creates another book in the series, maybe visiting the sci-fi genre? I can just imagine how much chaos the Shadow Master would inflict there.
