I think many of the game mechanic descriptions in this book came unashamedly from World of Warcraft and Elder Scrolls Online. Not that I’m opposed to that, but imho the glory days of those are a bit faded the popular ones are battle royales right now… Who needs another hunger games series tho. I do like the tech side of this. I’m into AI sci-fi. I wish the author had a deeper understanding of AI rather than the engineers being dolts wondering what and why. Also, I don’t think the engineers would have designed, built, and published the game without actively engaging with the players and content. The book overly simplifies in large swaths. Overall the book is readable and I will give the next one in the series a try.
