I’ve been compulsively listening to this series for a couple weeks now, but some things are getting tedious
For all Arthur’s supposed maturity, he’s awfully reckless. Ok, he’s a downright idiot sometimes now
One reviewer said they loved that for all his strength the MC still fails. Why on earth would I want that? For the character you are rooting for to keep losing? Doing stupid things? For all his training and power he doesn’t seem to battle any better. It’s getting depressing. Disappointment after disappointment. I would like to fist pump a “YES!” Sometimes. And yet it’s one bad thing after another.
The multiple POV thing is also really irritating in this book. Previously the other POV were still about Arthur- him or events w him from another perspective. It was always clear the point of that addition. THIS one the other POVs seem random, either unrelated to what’s going on or from people you don’t care about. At all. It’s filler. I wanted to keep fast forwarding.

For some reason the whole thing seemed more flat to me, less rich. As in apparently the harder the author tries to be complex and deep the more it backfires.

All told: repeated failures and disappointments interspersed with POVs that are annoying or irrelevant. I’d say only half of the many many hours I spent listening were worth it
