Fight to Survive is the first book in a new survival series. Since I can’t give half stars I’m rounding up to four stars for the story. It hits all the right beats for the genre, telling the stories of several characters who eventually come together in a struggle to survive, but what makes this book different from other such series is the disaster that befalls the world. It’s a bizarre virus that reminded me of the Joker’ Smilex gas from Batman, it’s victim die with a horrible grin on their faces. Creepy and yet also kind of cool. I hope we find more out about it in future volumes.

The book is narrated by Andrew Tell, and while this is the first time I’ve heard his work I know it won’t be the last. He has nice clean delivery, great use of inflection to bring the story alive. Took a look at his other work and already noted several works I’ll be checking out in the near future.
