This was a very entertaining book. It is in the tradition of literary pulp fiction like John D MacDonald’s Travis McGee series. It was written in the 1980s, but holds up well. It’s always nice to listen to a book from the past that doesn’t date itself too badly.
The character of Preacher (no name) like Robert B Parker’s Spenser (no first name) is very interesting and follows the classic line of a stranger coming to town (in this case he is invited) and solving a mystery that is corrupting the community.
Good narration and quick pace.
