After nearly a four book interlude establishing new characters and storylines, I loved being able to come back to the main storyline. The mystery and intrigue continues to escalate, with many clues given in earlier novels coalescing and fleshing out here in Book 6.
I would recommend listening to the side story Happy right before jumping into this novel to best understand new characters introduced and especially the motivations of both Alfred and the gods. While not necessary, it adds an extra sense of understanding and enjoyment.
