Robinson’s writing style is right up my alley of weird, sci-fi, action, dark humor, and trippiness. He has a knack for writing X-Files plots that are thrilling, supernatural, and yet still feel oddly realistic. He has a wicked dry sense of humor and appreciates both historical and pop culture call backs. Oh, and he tends to have older white guy protagonists made for awesome narrators like RC Bray and Kafer. Sex free. Occasional profanity. Frequent 80s movie references.

This story started with a bang, veered into Kaiju (Godzilla) territory, then pulled a Crazy Ivan into next level, alternate reality, ponder the afterlife in the deep end kind of mind-bombs. ? ? ? Don’t think too deep into the science, though, or it’ll ruin the B movie vibe, After all, how seriously are you going to take a team of monster hunters made up of an insomniac/washed up journalist, an assassin, a scientist who believes in ghosts and talks to herself, and a warlock? Suspend disbelief, grab the popcorn ? and enjoy.
