Beneath the stars is the first book in the SugarLake series. A 4 book interconnected series best read in order- seeing as this one does a lot of set up for future books in the series. If I’m not mistaken, I believe that this was the first book/series Emily Mclntire published. I thought it was really well done. I was impressed with the story.
This is a second chance romance. I appreciated the fact that it showed the MMC going to therapy. It showed his relationship with his therapist and how he learned to cope through his issues of being the child of someone who is an addict. Yes, the FMC is not a perfect here and at times she seems kind of oblivious to things going on around her or maybe she just chooses to ignore them 🤷♀️ no one’s perfect in her defense, she did have a lot going on that she didn’t tell anyone about but in the MMC eyes she’s perfect. I’m looking forward to reading the next book. The duet narration was also very nice as well. It was very well done. There was a few spots where the narration kind of went down a little bit in volume, but other than that it was perfectly fine and it didn’t take away from the story. This book has an HEA.
