Overall corporate greed, lies, corruption and pacifism are the motivations for book 4; that and outright stupidity. The one thing I hope to see in books 5 – 12 is Marco growing up. He is 25 and still in many ways a man-child. He is broken by his losses and his experience but so are all of the others. The difference is Marco is a professional martyr. While other soliders, including his friends, find ways to cope and survive he wraps himself in a blanket of self-pity and drives everyone away while he blames himself for every death, every battle, every loss. Everything is his fault and he is continously mentally apologising to all the people he failed. Name any event that he had no say over how it turned out or in which he helped bring about a more positive outcome and he will gladly, eagerly, blame himself for it not turning out better. He is the type of person who would gladly be responsible for the extinction of the dinosaurs 65m years ago or the scum attack 30 years before he was born. Name a terrible event and he will happily find a way to apologize for it happening and for not somehow stopping it. It gets old. Other than Mr. Pity Party I liked the book and am about to start on book 5.
