When I saw the books on sale. I mostly thought. What could it hurt. I loved firefly. Well these books easily surpass the beloved tv show. Putting wizards in space who are an anathema to tech is just a pure genius set up.
I loved how there is growth and arcs and real emotion to these people. I cried when it was over.
