Fell a little short in some of the overall story development. The character development between David and Connor sometimes felt rushed in some areas. He would create a nice, engaging narrative and abruptly go to something else. It’s easy to get past, but in some of his other books, he took his time and put just the proper thought into it. I think STRAIGHT BOY was one where it had everything from the beginning to the middle and even the end. I’m sensing a pattern where if he focuses on a hot topic issue, a sacrifice is made in another area of the story; things feel started but not finished. If you read him, you will understand what I mean. Overall, I enjoyed the book because I like his stories. If you choose this one, don’t look for anything mind-blowing. This could be one he just cranked out.
