The story is very simple, but the writing is clean and well narrated. It strikes me as a young adult title, careful not to use profanity or include adult content – nothing like the beloved Dungeon Crawler Carl series. Still… it is enjoyable in its own way, and I found myself looking forward to listening. There is quite a bit of character self reflecting, but it all sort of works. It took me back to when I was a kid playing DND, and maybe that’s why I enjoyed it so much.
