Alternative Headline: Drunk White Man is Awful. It was difficult to listen to parts of this, to the parts where our protagonist abused Imp for no apparent reason. Or, I guess, he said it was “to keep him unconscious, you know.” I really despised him from the start. It’s not that Candela did a poor job writing this, I just hated his main character so much it made me not want to finish the book. I powered on and I’m still not sure it was worth it in the end.
However, Gary Bennett is a fabulous narrator and he doesn’t disappoint here. If you’re someone who is interested in stories that follow terrible, abusive people, then this one may be for you!!
