I originally wanted to listen to this because I was already familiar with both of the narrators. However, this book was simply not exciting enough for me. I usually listen to dark, new adult, enemies-to-lovers, high school/prep/academy/uni, bully, reverse harem (or paranormal) romances. It took a couple tries just to get past the first chapter: I had this playing in the background while multi-tasking. Though the Irish accent and lingo took some adjusting to, Gregory Salinas’ and Lessa Lamb’s narration were pretty soothing. Alas, that’s about the only positive thing I can say about my listening experience. As for the story, I did not connect with any of the characters, nor did I find them particularly interesting or likeable. Thatcher was without a doubt, a bloody stubborn, hot-headed ar-se. I know he’s super protective of his younger sister Raelyn, but it played more towards his self-absorbed side, rather than doing what was best for her. From the moment they meet, Thatch’s a poor sport just because Griffin got the job he wanted. Instead of doing some self-reflection, he chooses to carry on with his immature attitude– directing all of his anger towards the new Irish lieutenant at the fire station. Arguably, Griffin was probably the best character; I was kinda intrigued with his family’s issues. There’s a story there with Adam that could be explored more in depth. Recommended if you’re looking for a quick, HEA sweet romance sprinkled with some steamy scenes. ?#PinkFlamingoProductions? #TheFlock-VIPReviewer
