Not a common situation, but I loved the first book and I thought Dean produced more of what I loved while adding enjoyable complexities and characters. He doesn’t take himself too seriously which keeps parts of the story from feeling overly didactic, and strives to add depth to even minor and side characters. Luckily I already bought book 3, because otherwise I’d say I can’t wait for it!
