The saga continues after Nick, Jessa and crew successfully defend their home against raiders. Even with that victory there is little time for rest. Nick forms an alliance with the Kiowa community of Los Gatos. The friendship brings a bounty of good will, happiness and trade goods. Jessa went off on her own quest to look for her friend Chris in Colorado. In another corner of the country, the virus continues to take victims and Matt Redmond finds himself all alone. Matt had just become a teenager, now he must find the courage to travel 800 miles to a lodge in New Mexico where he might find family and safety. This second installment is better in many ways than the previous one. The characters, story and narration are all well done. I look forward to the next volume.
