The mix of science fiction and fantasy is a bit too much for me. It really ruined the immersion. While VR, being transported into another world, etc. Aren’t exactly realistic. I’m wouldn’t be a fan of yoda fighting in the LotR or seeing Darth Vader in Hogwarts fighting Harry potters magic.
There’s little humor. Normally I wouldn’t care, however LitRPGs usually leave a lot of room for humor because of the genres nature. Since this book leans on sci Fi a bit too much. you won’t find anything funny or fun.
Sound booth does an amazing job.
I believe the book jumped too quickly into “saving the universe” as opposed to establishing each characters own motivations beyond staying alive.
The world building and monsters are unique. there’s some interesting monsters and “levels” in this.
