I listened to this book while driving between Phoenix and Tucson (4 plus hours per day total driving) and I couldn’t stop listening. I typically listen to something motivational in the morning drive and then something entertaining and interesting for the drive back in the afternoon. This book, after a couple afternoons, I started listening to both in the afternoons and mornings. It’s riveting.
This is my 4th Jack Olsen book. And 4th Kevin Pierce book as well. The combination is amazing. The great storytelling matched with Kevin’s nearly unmatched ability to make what he is reading sound like he is just sitting there telling you all of it, makes these books so rich to listen to. He has a great talent for putting a unique voice to each character in the book without going overboard as many readers do. Once you get to "know" each character, you instantly recognize when each is talking by how Kevin controls his tone, inflection, pace, etc.. It’s quite a skill that he has.
I recommend ALL of the books written by Olsen and read by Pierce. I’m not even a true crime kind of person. Until I decided to give a Jack Olsen book a try last year, I hadn’t read but a handful of this genre in my whole life. In fact, they are so good, I wonder if I will be able to enjoy another author or reader as well, the bar has been set so high.
