Colette Davison is always going to be a one-click author for me exactly because of books like this. Part of the Destination Daddies Season 2 series, Crazy Little Thing Cold Love, features Jude and Kasper. We met Jude in the first season in the book Greeking Out as best friend to Ben who meets Jayden. Ben and Jude were honorably discharged from the army after having experienced the effects of bombing – Ben without an arm and Jude with severe PTSD. Davison does an amazing job portraying the effects of PTSD, all while still managing to be an overall low angst read. Kasper has synaesthesia — which is seeing sound — and that was so fun to read. I loved hearing him describe the colors of sounds and Jude’s voice — it was a really unique addition to the book. Davison pretty consistently manages to add something unique to each story and that is one of the reasons I love all of them. Since it’s fairly low angst overall, this a reasonably quick read. Would give it 4.5 stars (rounded up to 5 starts for the review since you can’t do half stars) because the back half was a little slow moving. Overall she does a good job focusing on scenes that move the plot forward with unique characters dealing with real issues (PTSD) that make this worth the read. Addendum: love piers ryman’s narration on audible. He really brings Kasper and Jude to life. I’d read this book at release but listening to the narration brought it to life a second time. Buy, read, listen. Repeat.
