I don’t know what I was expecting from June First, but this was so far from it. What a masterpiece of tragedy, the beauty of finding light after a storm, and a reminder that love doesn’t always show up at the right time or place. This one rocked me to my core as Brant is hit right in the heart, time and time again. But the ending of this tragic love story was so worth it.

I listened via audible and I really enjoyed both narrators, especially Neill Thorne. I’ll definitely be listening again soon.

Brant and June were quite the forbidden love story as they were basically raised as siblings. Throw in a six year age gap and it gets a little sketch from the outside looking in. However, somehow Jennifer never made me feel ick about their story, never once did I question if this was morally okay or even feel like it was outlandishly taboo. These two were meant to be as soon as they met, he was always her protector and those feelings didn’t change until much later. I really loved how their story progressed and how they fell in love. It felt so down to earth and real.

I don’t want to say much more because I don’t want to spoil anything. But prepare for tears, prepare to rage, prepare to feel like an inadequate parent (I mean really Samantha, you’re amazing), prepare to just FEEL. This one hits where it hurts over and over and over again but the pain brings us immense joy and all the good feels too.
