After reading a few chapters, I did a quick internet search on the case. There’s an entire contradictory storyline out there that wasn’t even hinted at in the book, and it includes lies, family intrigue, and politics. Once I discovered this other side to the story, I became much more fascinated with it than the actual book. The story, as written, is horrible and shocking. Why the author chose to avoid researching this other side leaves me wondering. This book is almost a transcript of interviews with the main character, not a rendering of all the evidence concerning the matter. It’s a true crime book. As such, I’m sure it’s a fine one. To me, the whole story about the case including both sides of evidence would have been a much more engaging listen.
