Overall I really liked the books. The lead character was relatable, and the storyline was filled with just enough surprises to keep it from being predictable. Each book could have easily been twice as long to add character development and backstory, so I’m really hoping there will be some prequels and spin-offs someday. while there are references to tears of magic, and something called a sold scroll, there’s nothing else that really ties it to a game based system, so I would say it almost doesn’t even qualify as part of the recent rash of games turned into book form. There are a few that have gotten it right, but most get too distracting with that level of detail to interrupt a story. this seres idoes not have that problem, and I recommend it to anybody who likes wizard focused fantasy.
