A sad story with many happy realistic outcomes. Both heartbreaking and heartwarming this is undoubtedly a sweet story.
I also appreciated learning about the Spanish flu although it made little sense to me why the characters in the story seemed almost careless about exposing themselves to that flu. Also was hard to understand why those living together didn’t all get sick and how the flu just skipped over people all in close proximity. I may take the author’s advice and read further in one of the recommended books about the Spanish flu.
