After reading several reviews, and going through many of my listening mates’ conflicting emotions, I have to praise the Bryn Greenwood for her bravery. However difficult this book was to listen to, it must have been even more difficult to put this topic, as controversial as it is, out into the world.

There was a point when I nearly stopped listening because it was so disturbing. But the writing, the story, and the performance were all so very poignant, I was impelled to finish the book. It is very easy to judge this book with a symbolic slap on the wrist, as many of the listeners have. However, once my empathy kicked in, I was able to view the situation more objectively, realizing that these situations are happening every day, and the world needs to know. No good ever came from sweeping things under the rug and hiding skeletons in your closet.
