The only way I’m not going to recommend this book series is if you’re too up tight about what you read. Written as a “Successor” to the Firefly/Serenity series, Galaxy Outlaws accomplishes what it sets out to do early and to be honest, if that’s all the series did it would have gotten old really quick. The author gives you a cast of wonderfully damaged characters complete with gun play, endless sarcasm, a talking dog, and a wizard named Mort. If you miss cheering for Big Damn Heroes, If you love stories with a clever blending of sci-fi and fantasy, and if you just want to escape the 21st century for a while then Tales of the Black Ocean is for you.
