it took me forever but I finally figured out why these series upset me and set me off. it’s the overiding “he uses her bodies responses to get what he wants and to heck with what her words are saying, then she gets hurt trying to flee from him while she “gets her head wrapped around her new future/reality” premise that is the predominant theme. This is basically advocating man taking what they want, nicely, and woman need to just get used to it and be ready to be mated to whoever decides they want her and to just give up any hopes, dreams, plans, or aspirations unless they ask their man for permission and maybe he will let her have it. this is rape culture and it is wrong to push it as romance.
