I drive a lot, so >40 hours for one credit? OK So the 2 star moved to 3, just for that. It is VERY clear that Ms. Hamilton watched exactly one and a half YT prepper videos (probably the Canadian guy) as research prior to writing this.

Story Issues – limited spoilers that I don’t think ruin the read:

Military – Wyatt and Chase are the dumbest Navy Seals ever. The author just thought someone in her book should have military experience, and then remembered that movie she saw once and called her characters Navy Seals. With virtually no hunting and survival skills (didn’t go to SERE?), scared to move in the woods at night, and limited weapons knowledge. Only to later find the character Brenda, an Army surgeon, who has way more extensive knowledge of weapons. Then the best and brightest of the US military at the NRU just trust a random group and accidently upload a virus to a networked system without running any diagnostics at all. Right.

Medical – This family bought acreage and built a dang paradise lodge, but the only med kit they packed was an herb garden?

Logistics – They bought the aforementioned land, on a mountain, with apparently no knowledge of what was around. Lakes, Dams, cliffs, other people. I know the story had to rely on a little stupidity but it is tiresome.

I’d still recommend it just based on the fact that it occupies 40 hours of windshield time. But if I had read Book 1 and had paid for it, I definitely wouldn’t have read book 2. This ended up being my “between podcast filler”.
