I was a little uncertain of this title since I don’t like a lot of gore or other sensationalism. I am, however, interested in the many ways the different science disciplines can work together to solve problems hitherto thought to be unsolvable or solvable only with mostly luck. Although the descriptions were certainly gruesome at times, the descriptions of the cases were almost clinical, making it possible to be interested in the science without being put off by some of the messiness and the evil portrayed. I liked the way that the author went from generalities to specific case studies to break the information into digestible portions. It seemed to me that the only really over-the-top part of the book was the sub-title. Overall, a title I can, and will, solidly recommend to others with inquisitive, but not prurient interest in scientific and investigative work.
