This was just but a taste of what is to come from a world that includes nephilim, (arch)angels, demons, vampires, and hybrids. Lorelai is prophesied to be the chosen one and that is why the vampires want her. I say, stop treating her with kid gloves and just throw her into the deep end already. Older (because this is a slow burn with lots of sexual angst) fans of Cassandra Clare’s ‘The Mortal Instruments’ may enjoy this urban fantasy paranormal romance. The beginning certainly reminds me of a young Clarissa Fray.
With all that said, I felt a bit of frustration with this all too familiar trope… What’s so great about a “normal” human childhood when it keeps you in the dark and doesn’t prepare you for what is to come? Is ignorance really protection? Or does it just delay the eventual betrayal…
I enjoyed Tim Paige’s narration, which exuded the deep, gruffness you’d expect for an alpha demon lord. Sarah Puckett’s wearisome cadence was not really my cuppa tea.🤷🏻♀️ I’d rate this as 3 1/2 stars as I wouldn’t listen to it again. It wasn’t bad, but it blow me away either. I kinda wished Lorelai had a female friend to confide in just so that it would balance out all the male figures in her life.
I believe I won a copy of this audiobook from 🦩#PinkFlamingoProductions🦩 and figured I’d write a review with my honest opinion. +1 for the introduction of a Stradivarius!
