I saw this book pop up in a few places as recommendation based on other books I’ve read. I mostly figured if it was gay enough and had werewolves, it was probably worth a try

Holy f-ing shit I was blown away. I bought the book first, read half, reread the first half two more times, then finished. I started reading the next book but had some time in the car and thought I’d give the audiobook version a try. I can tell you, after reading it thoroughly and then being able to relive everything real-time in the audio book and all the voices and nuance, it’s nothing short of amazing.

Everything in the book is good. Pace, writing style, character depth and development, as well as the underlying plot, themes, and resolution. I outright sobbed just reading the book, and everything hit deeper and more profoundly in listening.

Last note – I love how sexuality isn’t really talked about just lightly acknowledged. The wolves being underlying fluid is a great construct because it allows for full freedom of preference and attraction without predetermine the eventual forever fit in a mate. There’s some sex in the book but if you’re looking for something a bit more graphic, this isn’t quite the book for that. This is character and plot focused, with sex added in where relevant to the story. It’s included as a means of creating emotional closeness and not just a vehicle for getting off.

Highly recommend. I’m going through the rest of the series next.
