Nuclear weapons are the scariest weapons that man ever created. That being said, nuclear weapons are no match for a single volcano in terms of power and impact on the Earth’s atmosphere. Bobby Akart writes some entertaining disaster books and this first book in the series seems to reinforce that. The book starts out slow in terms of story and character development. None of the characters will jump out at you but all together, they seem to glue the story so that interest is never lost. The unusual geopolitical situations that led to nuclear exchanges were mildly believable but focus should remain that this is fiction and only loosely based on the real world. As always, Kevin Pierce is amazing and makes this audio book series that much better.
