The story starts out pretty bleak, and then goes back to the start with four points of view slowly converging. So far we don’t know what caused the EMP like event. There are no zombies other than the mindless thugs preying on others. Situations are pretty realistic with a good mix of the good, the bad and the naive. The female characters are well done without the constant whining that seems to infect so many books in this genre. One criticism is the Puck character seems to be very similar to Tom Cullen in The Stand down to the description.
The violence and mayhem is not avoided and while graphic isn’t over the top or gratuitous. The book ends very abruptly with no sequel available on Audible yet. I will give the next book/s a listen when they arrive.
Kevin Pierce delivers yet again and as I’ve said before, owns this genre, but isn’t limited too it. I have always enjoyed his narration.
I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
