With a forgivably contrived opening, this book begins what feels like your run of the mill Isekai LitRPG.
Once we’re off into the game world, the Author takes some much needed turns that morph the store into one of the more interesting LitRPGs I’ve read/listened to. The use of pop culture and media from fantastic early games keeps the character relatable instead of feeling cliche.
The beginning of this book feels a little awkward but as the characters settle in and feel more natural it comes together nicely. Though the author has a few inconsistencies with the way some things are framed that’s more of a nit-pick than anything else as they don’t really affect the story.
As always, soundbooth theatre brings books to life in an unparalleled manner. I’m sure I would not have enjoyed it near as much without their performance.
