The Narrows is another well written story of horror and suspense from Ron Malfi. The Narrows reads like a horror movie script, right down to throw away characters who only serve as sacrificial fodder for our mystery monster lurking in the shadows of darkness. While the characters are not as interesting as the ensemble of other Malfi books like December Park. The small town of Stillwater itself is presented almost as a character in its own right. Overall a pretty good read, that’s not overly long and pretty straight forward. While not the same caliber story as December Park or The Night Parade, The Narrows is a dark ride engaging enough to make you want to see it through till it’s climax. If you like horror story’s set in small unassuming towns, with mysterious creatures and characters saddled with emotional baggage and past trauma, this book might be just what the doctor ordered.
